En esta fecha, adem\u00e1s, la Organizaci\u00f3n Mundial de la Salud busca cada a\u00f1o generar conciencia respecto de la importancia de donar sangre, para as\u00ed alentar la participaci\u00f3n de nuevos voluntarios.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Karl Landsteiner naci\u00f3 en Viena, Austria, el 14 de junio de 1868. M\u00e9dico pat\u00f3logo y bi\u00f3logo, obtuvo el Premio Nobel de Medicina en 1930 por descubrir y tipificar los tipos diferentes de sangre ABO. Su hallazgo, que logr\u00f3 mientras trabajaba para la Universidad de la capital austr\u00edaca, signific\u00f3 un hito fundamental en la historia de la medicina, dado que las transfusiones fracasaban muchas veces por la incompatibilidad entre la sangre del donante y del receptor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El grupo sangu\u00edneo ABO es un sistema que se usa para clasificar a la sangre humana en diferentes tipos, de acuerdo con la presencia o ausencia de determinados marcadores en la superficie de los gl\u00f3bulos rojos. Los cuatro tipos de sangre principales son A, B, O y AB. Aunque Landsteiner abord\u00f3 solo los tres primeros tipos, su equipo continu\u00f3 con las investigaciones que derivaron en otros hallazgos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La transfusi\u00f3n sangu\u00ednea es un procedimiento m\u00e9dico mediante el cual se transfiere sangre de una persona a otra, para recomponer la cantidad necesaria de sangre, que puede disminuir por distintos motivos como enfermedades, trastornos hemorr\u00e1gicos, lesiones o cirug\u00edas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En la Argentina de 1914, un m\u00e9dico extremadamente curioso se preguntaba en su hospital aun con olor a nuevo c\u00f3mo pod\u00eda ser que, hasta el momento, no hubiesen podido conservar sangre fuera del cuerpo humano.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El Dr. Luis Agote fue el cerebro detr\u00e1s de un invento que revolucionar\u00eda el mundo. El 9 de noviembre de 1914 en la cama 14 de la Sala Fern\u00e1ndez 1 de Cl\u00ednica M\u00e9dica, se produjo la primera transfusi\u00f3n en la historia mundial, a un paciente con tuberculosis, que fue dado de alta a los tres d\u00edas gracias a una mejor\u00eda notoria producto del procedimiento.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El descubrimiento de Landsteiner, entonces, fue imprescindible para salvar muchas vidas, ya que a partir de su desarrollo cient\u00edfico comenzaron a realizarse transfusiones \u00fanicamente entre pacientes del mismo grupo sangu\u00edneo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>D\u00eda Mundial del Donante de Sangre: los objetivos<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Acrecentar la conciencia mundial sobre la necesidad de disponer de sangre y productos sangu\u00edneos seguros para transfusiones.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Poner de relieve la crucial contribuci\u00f3n que efect\u00faan los donantes de sangre voluntarios, no remunerados, a los sistemas nacionales de salud.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Prestar apoyo a los sistemas nacionales de transfusi\u00f3n de sangre, las organizaciones donantes de sangre y otras organizaciones no gubernamentales, para contribuir al mejoramiento y la ampliaci\u00f3n de sus programas de donantes de sangre voluntarios, mediante el fortalecimiento de las campa\u00f1as locales y nacionales.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Instar a los gobiernos y las autoridades de salud nacionales para que proporcionen recursos suficientes para aumentar la recolecci\u00f3n de sangre donada por voluntarios no remunerados y gestionar el acceso a la sangre y las transfusiones para quienes las necesiten.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>La fecha conmemora el nacimiento del m\u00e9dico h\u00fangaro Karl Landsteiner, quien descubri\u00f3 y tipific\u00f3 los tipos diferentes de sangre ABO.
