En 1859, mientras realizaba un viaje de negocios, presenci\u00f3 la batalla de Solferino, en la cual el ej\u00e9rcito austr\u00edaco y el franco-piamont\u00e9s se enfrentaban por unificar Italia.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Frente a este acontecimiento b\u00e9lico, Dunant pudo apreciar las deficiencias sanitarias que el servicio p\u00fablico ofrec\u00eda a las v\u00edctimas. De inmediato, puso en marcha una campa\u00f1a junto con la poblaci\u00f3n de la zona para atender a los heridos de guerra, fueran del bando que fueran; el lema era Tutti fratelli (todos hermanos). Tres a\u00f1os m\u00e1s tarde public\u00f3 el libro Recuerdo de Solferino, donde describe las condiciones y sucesos de aquella batalla y cuenta c\u00f3mo \u00e9l y otros ciudadanos brindaron ayuda a las v\u00edctimas y heridos de guerra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A partir de entonces, Dunant puso en marcha una campa\u00f1a para sensibilizar a los gobiernos y a la opini\u00f3n p\u00fablica sobre la posibilidad de mitigar las consecuencias de los conflictos b\u00e9licos. Como parte de esta campa\u00f1a, fund\u00f3 un servicio sanitario neutral cuya principal funci\u00f3n radic\u00f3 en atenuar las consecuencias de los conflictos b\u00e9licos. Las ideas de Dunant fueron recogidas por cuatro miembros de la Sociedad Ginebrina de Utilidad P\u00fablica y, junto a \u00e9l, impulsaron un proyecto hasta la constituci\u00f3n formal en 1863 del Comit\u00e9 Internacional de la Cruz Roja. En agosto de 1864, se firm\u00f3 el Primer Convenio de Ginebra, tratado concebido para proteger de forma imparcial a las v\u00edctimas de guerra y soldados en campa\u00f1a.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En 1879, el gobierno argentino de Avellaneda ratific\u00f3 dicho Convenio. Un a\u00f1o m\u00e1s tarde, en 1880, se fund\u00f3 Cruz Roja Argentina, asociaci\u00f3n civil, humanitaria y de car\u00e1cter voluntario que forma parte del Movimiento de la Cruz Roja Internacional y que, actualmente, trabaja en \u00e1reas de educaci\u00f3n, sanidad, trabajo social, entre otras.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El 8 de mayo se conmemora el D\u00eda de la Cruz Roja para recordar el natalicio de Hernri Dunant, reconocer su labor humanitaria y al mismo tiempo generar conciencia y muestras de apoyo a las organizaciones que trabajan para mejorar las condiciones de determinados sectores sociales que por distintas causas o factores se encuentran en estado de vulnerabilidad permanente o eventual.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Henri Dunant naci\u00f3 el 8 de mayo de 1828, fue un comerciante, banquero y fil\u00e1ntropo suizo.
