{"id":22755,"date":"2023-02-21T01:24:55","date_gmt":"2023-02-21T01:24:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cvinoticias.com\/v3\/?p=22755"},"modified":"2023-02-21T01:24:55","modified_gmt":"2023-02-21T01:24:55","slug":"tercer-caso-en-el-mundo-de-curacion-del-vih-luego-de-un-trasplante-de-celulas-madre","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cvinoticias.com\/v3\/tercer-caso-en-el-mundo-de-curacion-del-vih-luego-de-un-trasplante-de-celulas-madre\/","title":{"rendered":"Tercer caso en el mundo de curaci\u00f3n del VIH luego de un trasplante de c\u00e9lulas madre"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong><em>La ausencia de part\u00edculas virales y de respuesta inmunitaria contra el virus se registr\u00f3 en el cuerpo de un paciente de la ciudad alemana de D\u00fcsseldorf, a pesar de no recibir tratamiento durante cuatro a\u00f1os<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Un estudio cient\u00edfico confirm\u00f3 el tercer caso de curaci\u00f3n de VIH en el mundo tras constatar que no hay rastros de part\u00edculas virales en un hombre que, luego de recibir un trasplante de c\u00e9lulas madre para tratar una leucemia, interrumpi\u00f3 de forma supervisada el tratamiento antirretroviral y, cuatro a\u00f1os despu\u00e9s, se mantiene sin virus en el organismo, public\u00f3 la revista Nature Medicine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El estudio fue realizado por el consorcio internacional IciStem, coordinado por el Instituto de Investigaci\u00f3n del Sida IrsiCaixa, centro impulsado conjuntamente por la Fundaci\u00f3n La Caixa y el Departamento de Salud de la Generalitat de Catalunya, en colaboraci\u00f3n con el University Medical Center de Utrecht (Pa\u00edses Bajos).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Seg\u00fan el art\u00edculo, pudo constatarse la ausencia de part\u00edculas virales y de respuesta inmunitaria contra el virus en el cuerpo del paciente de la ciudad alemana de D\u00fcsseldorf, a pesar de no recibir tratamiento durante cuatro a\u00f1os, evidencias que permiten al equipo cient\u00edfico considerar que se trata de un nuevo caso de curaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Javier Mart\u00ednez-Picado, investigador en IrsiCaixa y coautor del art\u00edculo, sostuvo que llevan \u00abnueve a\u00f1os estudiando estos casos excepcionales en los que, gracias a una estrategia terap\u00e9utica, el virus queda totalmente eliminado del cuerpo\u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00abQueremos entender detalladamente cada paso del proceso de curaci\u00f3n para poder dise\u00f1ar estrategias que sean replicables a toda la poblaci\u00f3n\u00bb, a\u00f1adi\u00f3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En 2008, un equipo m\u00e9dico de D\u00fcsseldorf diagnostic\u00f3 la infecci\u00f3n por el VIH a una persona que, m\u00e1s adelante, fue conocida como \u00abel paciente de D\u00fcsseldorf\u00bb, por su singularidad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tras el diagn\u00f3stico, el paciente inici\u00f3 el tratamiento antirretroviral, que le permiti\u00f3 controlar la infecci\u00f3n y reducir la cantidad de virus a niveles indetectables en la sangre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cuatro a\u00f1os m\u00e1s tarde, en 2012, sufri\u00f3 una leucemia por lo que tuvieron que realizarle un trasplante de c\u00e9lulas madre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cuando dej\u00f3 de tomar el tratamiento antirretroviral se le realiz\u00f3 un seguimiento durante 44 meses y no se detect\u00f3 ning\u00fan rastro de virus en el cuerpo del paciente.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>M\u00e1s de cinco a\u00f1os despu\u00e9s del trasplante, y habiendo pasado por dos reca\u00eddas de la leucemia y varias complicaciones, el paciente se estabiliz\u00f3, a partir de los cual el equipo investigador consensu\u00f3 retirarle el tratamiento antirretroviral contra el VIH.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hoy el paciente de D\u00fcsseldorf tiene 53 a\u00f1os y se encuentra en buen estado de salud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mar\u00eda Salgado, investigadora en IrsiCaixa y coautora del estudio, se\u00f1al\u00f3 que cuando el hombre \u00abdej\u00f3 de tomar el tratamiento, le hicimos un seguimiento durante 44 meses y no detectamos ning\u00fan rastro de virus en la sangre ni en los tejidos del paciente\u00bb ni \u00abtampoco vimos ninguna respuesta inmunitaria caracter\u00edstica de un rebrote viral. Sus defensas no est\u00e1n activadas contra el VIH porque no tienen que defenderse contra el virus\u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La confirmaci\u00f3n de la curaci\u00f3n de los pacientes de Berl\u00edn y Londres preceden a la del de D\u00fcsseldorf y, aunque son los tres \u00fanicos casos en los que se puede hablar de curaci\u00f3n, ya se presentaron en conferencias cient\u00edficas la remisi\u00f3n del VIH de otros dos pacientes, uno de Nueva York, y otro del Hospital City of Hope situado en Duarte, Estados Unidos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00abNinguno de ellos tiene unas caracter\u00edsticas inmunitarias especiales que les permitan controlar la infecci\u00f3n por el VIH de forma espont\u00e1nea, sino que el virus se ha eliminado del cuerpo como resultado de una intervenci\u00f3n m\u00e9dica. Esto diferencia estos casos de erradicaci\u00f3n de los de curaci\u00f3n funcional en controladores de \u00e9lite o postratamiento conseguidos hasta ahora, en los que el propio cuerpo de las personas ten\u00eda factores especiales que les permit\u00edan controlar el virus\u00bb, especific\u00f3 Salgado.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>El trasplante de c\u00e9lulas madre \u00fanicamente se aplica a personas que
